Though she initially resisted, Brittney ultimately agreed to go to treatment, but left treatment after 11 days and moved in with her boyfriend where she continues to drink. Three of the show’s interventionists and five former addicts are featured guests on this episode, hosted by Christopher Lawford and recorded before a studio audience. Jeff Van Vonderen, Candy Finnigan and Ken Seeley discussed their respective motivations for entering the field, after which clips from the addicts’ episodes were shown and the addicts themselves commented on their experiences during and after treatment. Finnigan also pointed out how “Intervention” has helped people watching at home to feel less alone in their own seemingly hopeless situations with friends and family members struggling with addiction. Obviously, each season of “Intervention” features a different cast of people in need of help from the various interventionists.

She appeared on ‘Intervention’ hoping to solve her shopping addiction that was slowly and steadily driving her towards bankruptcy. In the Season 13 premiere, Nichole, 25, has constant tremors due to a severe alcohol addiction as she struggles to overcome the pain of her sister’s betrayal. Devasted when she lost custody of her son, Amanda began drinking heavily and moved to Las Vegas for a fresh start. Once there she became seduced by the city’s notorious party culture and started using methamphetamine. Kelsey was a standout student, extremely talented at soccer and could charm her way through anything. Everything changed when she was sexually assaulted at her first high school party at the age of 14.
An adopted child whose parents divorced when she was a teenager, Catlin hid from her attachment wounds by overachieving in school and sports. She says she’s on Suboxone, a form of medication-assisted treatment, and plans to taper down until she is off that too. Mazziotti agreed to do that for the cameras, she says, because she’d been told the footage would be used for a student project at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. Perhaps, she thought, the film would be viewed by a handful of sociology or psychology students, maybe a few professors. Now, she worries about how she will explain the footage to her daughter one day.
Season 6 (2008–
Ed, 53 and Bettina, 49, had a picture-perfect life, including three adoring kids, a dream home, sports cars, motorcycles and a respected place in their church community. But six years ago, Ed made a bad career move and ended up unemployed. Ed has been hospitalized for internal bleeding and Bettina for withdrawals so excruciating she thought she was dying.
